I'm having nothing but clear mucus discharge out of my rectum when I defecate?

I know this is a really embarring question and I hope people have the maturity on here to respond maturely. For about 4 hours now my stomach has been gurgling and I've been having the urge to use the restroom and when I do, nothing comes out but some clear saliva-like mucus. What does this mean, that my colon is irritated? My family has a history of IBS so I'm wondering if it could be that? Should I go to the doctor? Thanks for taking the time to read this!
