Is any else fed up with this new era of alternative music?

During the birth of alternative music such as The Pixies, REM, and Nirvana alternative music was a breath of fresh air compared to the main stream rock. But now the bands that play this so called "alternative" music is modeling their style and lyrics off each other. Even the underground alternative is striking similar to bands such as Fallout Boy. What would Kurt Cobain think of this era of Alternative music?
